Greetings!
Once again, this year on April 11, in lieu of our monthly meeting, we are offering our Annual Meeting: a time to report on the doings of 2009 and plan the remainder of 2010.
This year a suggestion was made that we structure the meeting so folks could spend more time doing something together. So, in addition to the quick financial report and review of our educational programming for the past year, we will work together assembling our annual appeal letter.
Every year at this time we send out an appeal for donations to help keep ECCoLoV going. As a tax-exempt, non-profit, 501c3, we have certain fixed expenses for which we rely on your help.
Follow this link to see a preview of the letter with much more information in it. The coming year is already looking to be one of great programs, lectures and events. We thank you deeply for your past support and once again turn to you for continued support. Know that we are using your financial help to establish a functional group and are working toward other avenues of funding through local philanthropic organizations.
ECCoLoV is still a rather young organization. There is much to do and much we can be. You are invited to help sculpt this effort! Please give generously, both monetarily and with your passion for promoting the values of the Earth Charter!

EAST HADDAM PRESENTATION
The Cultural Limits to Consciousness
7 PM, Earth Day, April 22, 2010
at East Haddam's Rathbun Library
Please join us on Earth Day for a presentation titled 'The Cultural Limits to Consciousness'. Drawing from film clips available through YouTube on the internet, the presentation asks:
-Do the beliefs we've been taught limit our ability to see the world?
-Do these beliefs keep us from creative responses to the current trends of the environment, economy and social justice?
-What are the deep structures of culture that might limit our collective consciousness?
Join us for three short films interspersed with stimulating discussion about the state of the Earth today, the influence of culture and consciousness in responding, and what your own personal role in all of this might be.
Hosted by sustainability consultant Michael Harris, the President of East Haddam's Earth Charter Community of the Lower Valley (ECCoLoV), the presentation is featured as Earth Day programming by our town's Main Street library.

Solar Energy

This article about the potential for solar energy may be of interest and value to you!
"The harnessing of solar energy is expanding on every front as concerns about climate change and energy security escalate, as government incentives for harnessing solar energy expand, and as these costs decline while those of fossil fuels rise. One solar technology that is really beginning to take off is the use of solar thermal collectors to convert sunlight into heat that can be used to warm both water and space."
